Pacific Medical Buildings began in 1971 as the western regional office of American Medical Buildings, a publicly-owned, Milwaukee-based developer of medical office buildings. In 1988, with only a handful of employees, the company formally became Pacific Medical Buildings, and has since grown to be the leading developer of hospital-based healthcare facilities in the West.

PMB's Executive Chairman, Bob Rosenthal, recognized that for the foreseeable future, hospitals would have a difficult time raising capital needed to invest in new technology, equipment, service lines, medical staff and in-patient facilities. With all those competing needs for capital, PMB created a developer-owned model in which hospitals would not have to invest capital when building outpatient facilities.

As the sizes of its projects have grown, so has PMB. The company's first developer-owned project was a 40,000 square foot medical office building in Tacoma, Washington. Just recently the company completed its seventy-first project. Pomerado Outpatient Pavilion, a 172,000 square foot facility in Poway, California. At the same time, PMB now has a staff of over 80 employees.

PMB is celebrating its 37th year in the business dedicated to providing value to its partners, hospitals, physician tenants and employees.
